Back in December Joe Park asked if I would show with him as part of a mentoring exhibit at the Seattle Rental Sales Gallery in May. I of course was thrilled and accepted. Joe was my painting instructor when I was attending Seattle Central Community College back in 1998-2000 for Graphic Design. Graphic Design eventually fell by the wayside since painting became such a large part of my life.

Mentoring
May 14–June 12, 2009
Seattle Tower Building
seattleartmuseum.org
This show explores the time-honored practice of mentoring. Four established Seattle artists were asked to invite an emerging artist whose work they feel should receive more attention. In some cases the mentees were ex-students; in others, fellow artists to whom they had offered advice, encouragement or other assistance.
The mentors/mentees are: Claire Cowie/George Rodriquez; Ellen Garvens/Colleen Choquette-Raphael; Eva Isaksen/Dan Hawkins; Joe Park/Robert Hardgrave.
Sublimate – 30″ x 24″ – Acrylic on canvas – 2009

I made this image for Hibiki for a future trade of one of her drawings. She is a print maker, and a super talented lady, not to mention warm and funny. I visited her studio last week for the first time and wish I had taken my camera. Here is a link to her flickr stream where I discovered her.
